## What it is for

A firm deciding whether to pursue federal work, size a competitor's government business or find prime contractors to subcontract under needs the contracts actually awarded, with obligated amounts, agencies and industry codes. This searches the Federal Procurement Data System, where agencies report every contract action, and returns the matching actions.

Business development staff at government contractors, subcontractors looking for primes, and analysts sizing a market segment's federal spend.

## What happens next

The call sends your filters to the FPDS public ATOM feed and returns the matching contract actions ten at a time, in FPDS order: each award or modification with its contract number, signing date, vendor, agency, the amount it obligated, the contract's total obligated to date, the NAICS code, the place of performance and a link to the FPDS record. Without a fiscal year, it searches actions signed in the last twelve months. Nothing is estimated or summed.

A JSON answer with up to ten contract actions and the start of the next page, each with its contract number (PIID), modification number, signed date, vendor, department and agency, obligated amount, total obligated on the contract, base and all options value, NAICS code and description, place-of-performance state, description and FPDS link.

- Open solicitations are not covered (they are on SAM.gov).
- Amounts are obligations as reported to FPDS, not payments; a modification can obligate a negative amount.
